Happy birthday to us!

High Heat Stats turns one year old today!

This blog, on highheatstats.com, has been around since February, but I first opened our temporary home on Blogger 1 year ago today.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of our great readers and writers for making this such a great place.

Also, here’s a little more info on the project I’m working on. I mentioned before that something big is brewing. I told you that some of our writers will be involved. I have also commissioned several artists to produce original artwork, and this artwork is a key part of what we’re doing–meaning it’s NOT that I’m just getting a few book illustrations. I can also share that the final product of this effort will be something physical, as opposed to an e-book, web site, or other electronic medium.

All will be revealed in the first week of December when we launch a major campaign around this project.

Birthday, physical, with illustrations? Ooh, ooh I get it! A birthday cake with frosting pictures of statistically interesting players from Bill Bergen to Barry Bonds. (Alliteration helps.) Looking forward to it and to another great year at High Heat Stats. (Where we shouldn’t lay off the shoulder high fastball.)

A really nice job of constructing a community. The people are sane, there’s a lot of interesting data and analysis, and it’s good to (electronically) hang with people who share an affection for the game that goes beyond just homerism.

Happy birthday

Happy Birthday HHS!

Although, the first 2 weeks of December are historically unlucky/misfortunate times for me; hoping this changes that!

Happy Birthday HHS. Did not surprise me to find you guys this Summer. Hopefully you will have many more and may they all be after the World Series is over. Thought MLB was going to start on April 1st every year.

November 2 is not a banner day for MLB birthdays. Our only HOFer is Travis Jackson; he’s also our HR and RBI leader with 135 and 929, and our Secretary of WAR with 42. Our games, hits, runs, total bases, triples and steals leader is Willie McGee. I’m OK with that, especially since the Yanks foolishly traded “E.T.” for Bob Sykes on my 18th birthday. Our other two 100-HR men are Orlando Cabrera and Orlando Merced. I guess our team nickname is the Magic. We do get ol’ Double-No-Hit, but our wins and saves leader is Ron Reed. He can… Read more »

Grats, guys! Now that I’m finally settled in (with internet service again, no less) I’m looking forward to catching up on what I missed. Or trying to, at least. 😉
