@1/mosc,

…and Boggs also had a 162 game stretch (in 1985/86?) hitting .400 on the nose?

I count Roger Maris with 64 homers from May 17, 1961 through May 13, 1962, which I think comes out to a period over which 160 Yankee games were played. Through the first 28 Yankee games in 1961, Maris had a total of 3 homers for the season.

George Sisler had 273 hits in 162 games, from Sep 24, 1919 to Apr 16, 1921.

Keep in mind that Chris’s 61 homers over 162 games played came over a period in which his team played, by my count, 169 games.

Thx. I’d completely forgotten about Davis, what with Miguel Cabrera eclipsing every AL batter this year.

Not sure what the point of this is. I think Barry Bonds hit 80 HRs from April 12, 2001 through April 19, 2002.

Rogers Hornsby hit .402 from Sept. 2, 1920 through May 1, 1926. 742 games.
