Quiz: What is our common denominator?

Out of 63 players who’ve had the chance to do a certain thing this year, only these four have succeeded:

What mountain have those four climbed? Each has had exactly two chances to do it, and succeeded exactly once.

(By the way, it’s a little-known fact that I have a photograph of all four of them eating clam chowder in Cliff Clavin’s kitchen, so that answer is out.)

Okay … everybody to your stations!

      You got it!

I do about as well in stumping the audience as Cliff Clavin did in answering the Final Jeopardy question. One guess, geez — I should just save myself the trouble and post the answer right along with the question!

I’m curious, kzuke — how did you know the answer? Did you hear it from some media source? Or are you as fascinated as I am by Cook’s .063 BA allowed?

just went off a hunch. thought it was interleague related due to the timing, but that wasn’t it. 63 is kind of an odd number of players to have tried doing something. did a PI search for pitchers who have given up exactly 4 hits, and cook stood out

Geez, I was foiled right at the onset.

kzuke, I am flat out flabbergasted by how quickly you were able to come up with the answer.

        Well done.
