Meet the new High Heat Stats…Just the same as the old High Heat Stats…with a few additions and changes:
- We’ve moved to our new permanent home at HighHeatStats.com. You shouldn’t have any trouble reaching this site from any location (such as places that don’t allow access to blogspot domains.) The content on the old High Heat Stats will remain there, but all new posts will be presented here only.
- We’ve added some tabbed pages across the top. This is where you can go to post a suggestion, look up the meaning of a stat, check out our Twitter feed, or a number of other things.
- The comment system is now open and quite similar to how it worked on the Baseball-Reference.com blog. You just put in your email address, choose a screen name, and go. No need to log in anymore. You can also choose to subscribe to comments by email on any post.
- We’ve widened the main post area so we can make tables wider and share more data.
Other than these changes, most everything else is the same. Most importantly, we’ll continue to be bringing you the same quality of content.

Woo-hoo!!! Congrats, guys. Excited to be at the new site!
This is a test to see what replies look like. Normally, I wouldn’t feel the need to reply to my own posts.
Congrats on the first comment, by the way.
Congrats on the new site guys.
Awesome. Looking good!
Welcome home.
Congratulations, awsome, just awsome.
Great! More color!
my first site to read every day. keep up the great work
Yay!
I’m glad to see that you’re up and running.
Eve 6 released their first new single in 9 years, and HHS moved to its own site. Better day ever or best day ever?
Great to see the new site launching, guys! Looking forward to the continuation of lots of great baseball banter.
Congrats-clean looking interface, nice layout and graphics.
And, I can reclaim my original name….
My only complaint is now I need to figure out how to get my Don Mossi avatar for the new site.
But congratulations nonetheless…
Hot damn! He followed me.
Excellent job.
Awesome. Great site!
Grats, guys! Glad to see things are working out for you!
Congrats!
Keep making this blog one of the best things on the Internet
Should I have stayed with Entaowed, or just post as my name? Either way, great new changes & congratulations!
Mike, you can post however you wish.
“Hello? Am I on?” That would be the universal opening remark if this were a call-in radio show. New site-quite spiffy.
Looks super. Already added it to my bookmarks.
Nice place. Reminds me of the reform school….
I love how replies are numbered sequentially!
Wow I love the new comment system!!
One last test…
Nice digs. I think even Twisto would approve. (-;þ
You’ve obviously done a ton of work on this, Andy. The site looks terrific. My sincere congratulations.
Thanks!
Why, am I well known for my pickiness over site design?
That Disqus shite was rather annoying, however.
Let me see if I can find your exact quote about the old site, JT. Ah yes, here it is.
“The colors are so played. And the template…oh lord, your feng shui is all fouled up. I don’t know if I can be seen in such an establishment.”
Don’t back away from it — I’m sure several of us wish we’d been clever enough to say something similar.
Here’s one thing we can both be picky about: Death to Disqus!
After round 1, the score is KT 1, JT 0.
Haha, I had forgotten about that.
Rumors that said posting was tongue-in-cheek are unconfirmed as of press time.
Rumors that said posting was not tongue-in-cheek are unimaginable, given what we know of said poster’s style.
(-;þ
After two rounds, the score is KT 2, JT 0.
JT is going to have to go for the KO in the 3rd and final round.
I don’t even know what I’m competing in!
Andy, would you be upset if I confined all my posting to this thread?
(btw, I am replying to my own post because there is no “reply” button on yours — I guess because we are getting too close to the wall? —->>
Looks really sharp, Andy. Well done.
One thing that could be nice to have is the next and previous post links at the bottom of each post. Had that at B-Ref and Blogspot – I found it to be a useful navigation aid.
Weird–I had added that before and now it’s gone. I’ll see about getting it added back in.
9 minutes and 12 seconds later, I have re-added that feature. At the bottom of any post (before the comments) you should see links to the previous and next posts.
Andy,
Congratulations, and I hope to re-join my old baseball friends in discussing the assorted flotsam and jetsam of baseball history.
First comment in over three months – WHOOPIE!!
I heard the Red Sox made a couple trades/signings; are we back on the shortstop merry-go-round of 2005-2009 again?
You have been missed, Lawrence. Welcome back.
Andy,
Thanks,it’s good to be back.
Welcome to the new site! I have been really looking foreward to this!
Looks good.
Excellent, guys. Best of luck!
Congrats on the new home, guys!
Right on! I am also excited to claim my old (albeit vastly underused) name rather than the (also fairly unused) ‘switchitter’ I was forced to take by disqus. Thanks so much, Andy, looks excellent.
I am so happy we are back to the “open comment” system! Just in time for Spring Training!
Yeah, it’s weird how this has all worked out. When I found out that the B-R blog as closing at the end of October, I took 2 days to think about what to do, and I said…well, hey, there’s a great community of people there, just throw up some dumb-looking blog on whatever site is easiest and free, and keep those people talking–then if it works out over the first few months, drop a few dollars on your own site and make it an official thing–and I figured we could give it that shot before the 2012 season came around.
And here it is–exactly what happened.
I’m excited and I’m glad you are too.
Andy,
It was a dream, you made it happen!
I also love, love, love the “Recent Comments” section in the upper-right corner. It saves me the trouble of constantly clicking on individual articles to see the latest comments.
Pitchers and catchers will report before you know it…
Replies are limited to a depth of 5. I could increase it but 5 seems sufficient.
Please stop keeping score, Andy. I’m really not trying to one-up Johnny T. I’d like him to post here sometimes!
How did people get their picture to follow? Is there a way to get email notification if someone replies to one of my posts only?
Go to gravatar.com and register your email address with the avatar you want, then it will show up here.
At the bottom of this post, you’ll see a link to ‘manage your subscriptions’ and I think there is an option to receive replies to your comments only.
I don’t see any option to only get emails for responses to my comments, just followup comments, which may be what I am looking for but sounds more like every comment made after mine.
A few other things, I like the mobile stuff, that is my primary way of reading posts. 2 things however, whenever there is a wide table, I can never scroll left and right to see it, I do have a blackberry torch which is probably the Geo Metro of smartphones so maybe that is my fault. Also, the comments aren’t numbered in the mobile version.
Finally, I don’t like the out of order comments, there is no way to tell if a new comment has been made without seeing it on the recent comments list or manually finding it. If I don’t come on here for a day I wont see the newest comments and probably miss responses hidden further up on topics.
Topper, I presume you are referring to mobile comments–without numbers that is difficult, I agree. I’ll see if I can get some better options on the mobile theme.
