Great news!
I am about to change over the website to a new theme that will run substantially faster and resolve some of the bugs that folks have been seeing. I will be getting rid of advertisements and also using fewer plugins.
Please bear with me on Monday evening as I get these changes in place.
Andy, I hope that this will not results in increased costs or decreased revenues for you. I have been fine myself with the performance of the site. The only glitch I would get is when I got a HHS Facebook post on my Android, the click-through would usually return an error. But I don’t do that very often.
So glad to hear about the changes, Andy! I know you’re a super busy man these days and don’t have as much time to hang out around these parts, but you’re seriously the greatest for continuing to keep the site up and seek improvements like this. M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P!
I am waiting for the site host to upload a database file for me. Please be aware that any new comments or posts that occur between now and when the change is complete will NOT be carried over to the revamped blog (so you might just wanna wait a day to make comments or posts)
Hi, Andy — What about drafts getting carried over? I have a scary number of half-baked posts. Will I still be able to access them?
Nothing will be lost including drafts.
Site always worked great and was quick, but change is good.
You may be the first site, however, to get rid of advertising!
I never found the advertising as intrusive
Does seem snappier. Your post made it sound like a new visual would be on the site but I guess we’re sticking with this one. Works fine.
Andy, THANKS!! for not only keeping HHH up and running, but improving it as you are now doing. I enjoy _immensely_ the discussion amongst other historically-minded baseball fanatics.
I do wish you posted more often, but other stalwarts have taken up the slack.
One technical commen, though – before, once I filled in ‘Name’ and ‘Mail’, I didn’t have to do it again. Now, I have to do it every time I post – what’s going on?
Will the 1904/1 COG voting and discussion be carried over ?
Does this mean I should start posting again?
